Getting My Portrait Done Like It’s 1800s
In an age defined by rapidly evolving AI technologies, I had the chance to learn about a photographic technique from the 1800s: Wet Collodion Photography.
During my recent trip to Mexico City, I met visual artist Tomás Casademunt, who showed me this vintage process that captures portraits with incredible depth, character, and texture, all through the magic of chemistry and a handmade camera.
It was a memorable reminder of how far we have come, from early photographic chemistry to today's AI breakthroughs, all built on the same curiosity and experimentation. Experiences like this make me appreciate the intersection of craft and technology, something I am deeply passionate about bringing into my own work.
